Mowlem Studios offers over 1,100 sqft of versatile, purpose-built space available for short-term hire in Bethnal Green, East London. Our studio is ideal for photo shoots, film productions, art exhibitions, brand activations, workshops, and pop-up events. Located just minutes from Bethnal Green Station and Cambridge Heath, we’re perfectly placed for creative professionals across East London.
Flexible Creative Space for Hire
Studio 1 sits at the heart of Mowlem Studios — an open-plan space available for short-term bookings, ideal for photography, filming, and events. While the wider 2,400 sqft building is home to a long-term community of resident artists and designers across Studios 2–7, Studio 1 is the only space open for external hire.
This separation allows us to offer a truly focused and functional hire experience while being surrounded by the energy of a creative collective.

Studio 1 provides a 1,100 sqft blank canvas for art exhibitions, product launches, private events, workshops, and more. With high ceilings, wide access, a kitchenette, and open-plan layout, the space is designed for flexibility.
Our studio is ideal for fashion shoots, editorials, still life, commercials, and stop motion. Featuring an 80 sqft infinity cove, green screen, natural light, and full client facilities, Studio 1 is built for high-quality production.
Set Build & Scenic Design
We design and fabricate bespoke sets for shoots and activations — either in-house or at external venues. We offer art direction, scenic construction, and build services on request to complement your production.

What type of events do you host?We welcome exhibitions, workshops, pop-ups, product launches, and private viewings. Our studio is highly adaptable for creative and brand-focused events.

Can I build a set in the space?Absolutely. We provide scenic construction and art direction services in-house. You can also bring your own production team if preferred.

What are your hire hours?We’re open daily from 9am and offer 24-hour access by prior arrangement.

Is Studio 1 the only space available for hire?Yes. Studio 1 is our dedicated short-term hire space. Studios 2–7 are long-term rental studios and not available for events or external bookings.

Do you provide equipment or lighting?We recommend clients bring their own equipment. We also work closely with a local lighting supplier so we can also provide lighting hire quotes on request.

Is the studio wheelchair accessible?Yes — Studio 1 is located on the ground floor with step-free access.

How much does it cost to hire the studio?Studio 1 rates vary depending on the type of booking. Take a look at our Pricing page to find out more.

Is this space suitable for exhibitions and brand activations?Yes — Studio 1 is purpose-designed for creative and commercial events, including launches, installations, and exhibitions. It is not available for personal or domestic events.

What’s included with the hire?Hire includes access to the display space, WC facilities, heating, kitchenette, and Wi-Fi. Lighting, AV or furniture hire is not included but we can recommend local suppliers.
